Langkawi Island Part III

Assalamulaikum

What to do in Langkawi?
Here is some places that you may visit once you reached Langkawi.

1. Langkawi Sky Cab and Sky Bridge

Riding on SkyCab cable car

Aside from experiencing the local lifestyle, there is no shortage of things to do in Langkawi. Head up the thrilling new cable car to the summit of Mount Machincang - Langkawi's second highest mountain - for an unrivalled view of the entire main island and beyond. It is one of steepest cable car ropes in the world! Once you reach the top of Machincang mountain, you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the islands and the flora around, it's absolutely stunning!

On the SkyBridge

Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125 metre-long curved pedestrian bridge that offers an exhilarating (and sometimes terrifying) view of the verdant Gunung Mat Cincang, Telaja Tujuh waterfalls, and several islets surrounding Langkawi.

Basic tickets for the SkyCab cost RM35 for adults and RM25 for children.

2. Parasailing

My most favorite activity for this trip. Parasailing and enjoying the beautiful view of Pantai Tengah and Pantai Cenang, one of the best beaches in Langkawi. Even though the price was a bit expensive for just 10 minutes ride, believe me, it was a worth experienced. To lessen the budget, go and compare each company’s packages price and you can get as low as RM50 per ride.

3. The Beaches

Langkawi offers some pretty lovely beaches with white powder sand and emerald waters. However I have to admit that the sea is not crystal clear in Langkawi. But the beaches are definitely good enough for a relaxed afternoon picnic, some beach bumming or just watching the sunset. These three were my favorites:

·         Tanjung Rhu at the northern tip of Langkawi is probably the most picturesque beach on the island, surrounded by bizarre limestones.
·         Pantai Cenang is the most popular beach in the touristic center of the island, at the south-western tip of Langkawi.
·         Tengah Beach further south is a relaxed alternative to Pantai Cenang. A quiet beach without the crowds. The beach is 15-20 minutes walk from Pantai Cenang.

4. Kilim Geoforest Park

Experience the wonders of nature at Langkawi’s coastal mangrove forest. Stopping at the jetty, you can then walk along a wooden platform through a mangrove swamp while admiring the natural beauty of the overhanging Bogak tree, tree crabs, macaques and unique limestone formations. The path leads you directly to a bat-filled cave!

As we travelled in group, we book a chartered speedboat for this tour. We manage to negotiate the fees with the owner, thus we only need to pay RM23 per head.

5. Island Hoping

During our pit-stop at Pulau Dayang Bunting

Breathe in the island’s refined beauty. Go on a little journey to explore Langkawi’s most unique islets. With many of the islands laying so close to one another, hiring a speed boat is one great way to discover more of the lush scenery and diverse landscapes. Pulau Dayang Bunting and Pulau Beras Basah are some of islands you should visit.

Pulau Dayang Bunting

Other popular destinations are the Dataran Lang, Pulau Payar Marine Park, Langkawi Wildlife and Bird Paradise, underwaterworld, Field of Burnt Rice, Hot Springs, Telaga Tujuh (The Seven Wells) and the Beach of Black Sand. Boat tours are organised to Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden), Gua Cerita (Cave of Stories) and Gua Langsir (Curtain Cave).

Underwater World Langkawi

There is actually so much more to do in Langkawi, 3 days 2 nights are certainly not enough to discover all the things that this island has to offer. If you've been to Langkawi, I'd like to hear about your favorite activities.

Thank you for reading! Happy travels!
