Langkawi Island Part II

Assalamualaikum

How to get to Langkawi?

As a small-budget traveler, my friends and I choose to drive from Kuantan to Putrajaya Sentral.  We parked our cars there (parking charges: RM16/day) and hop-on KLIA Monorail which only cost RM6.50 per way.

We took express monorail from Putrajaya Sentral To KLIA 2

Flying with AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur-Langkawi-Kuala Lumpur

From Kuala Lumpur, the easiest is via plane and it's a 1 hour flight. You can choose either to start your journey from KLIA or KLIA 2. There are several airlines for this route, AirAsia, Malindo Air, Firefly and Malaysia Airlines. If you visit Penang, the island south of Langkawi, you can also fly over to Langkawi with AirAsia or Firefly. Flights can be as cheap as RM39 if you book early.

For finding the cheapest deals, I recommend Skypicker.

If you came from the Nothern areas, you can go by ferry. Ferries usually leave the port of Kuala Kedah on the mainland on the hour from 7am to 6pm. The ride lasts 1.5 hours. There are also ferry services from the mainland port of Kuala Perlis and the Thai port of Satun, both 45 minutes from Langkawi.

Once you’ve touchdown the Lagendary Island, you can rent a car for your comfortability during the trip. There are a lot of choices of cars, with different prices each. If you came in group, just like us, we choose to drive on MPV cars or van. There were also public transportation for the tourist such as tour bas, tour van, taxi and public buses.

Experience the beautiful countryside and peaceful landscape of paddy fields by renting a car and taking a leisurely drive around the island. Some of Langkawi's most rustic and memorable views are along the road that circles the island.

Move on to things we need to bring during vacation, if you choose to get to Langkawi by plane, your Identity Card (I/C) is compulsory. About foods you don’t need to worry because it is not an isolated island where you need to bring lots of stuff to remain survive. You just need to bring your money, swimsuit for water activities, comfortable clothes because Langkawi’s weather is just too hot and your electronic device that can capture your moments.

Happy Travelling !
